Inner Jazz-An Interfaith Meditation at KUCC

A free performance of “Inner Jazz” featuring the Oîkos Ensemble will be presented Saturday, April 14, 5 p.m. at Kirkwood United Church of Christ, 1603 Dougherty Ferry Road, Kirkwood. ‘Inner Jazz’ is a new concert/meditation experience sponsored by Kirkwood United Church of Christ’s Ministry of Imagination, Creativity and the Arts (MICA). Held the second Sunday of each month, Inner Jazz will offer a unique blend of jazz, storytelling, the arts, and meditation to explore timely themes from an interfaith perspective. Directing Inner Jazz is the Rev. Cliff Aerie of The Oîkos Ensemble, a national jazz ministry now based in St. Louis. In addition to Rev. Aerie on saxophone, band members include Daniel Campbell (trumpet), Carolbeth True (piano), Dave Troncoso (bass), Kevin Gianino (drums), and vocalist Arianna Aerie. No reservations are required, and ample parking is available. A free-will offering will be received to help support the artistry of the musicians. For more information, call the church 822-2240 or visit www.kirkwooducc.org. Oîkos has performed at more than 300 faith-based communities around the country. Oîkos’ founder, Rev. Aerie, has a unique background in the arts and ministry. A musician, storyteller, playwright, actor, photographer and media producer, Cliff has spent a lifetime exploring the adventurous terrain of creativity and the spirit.
