Achtung Baby! Kirkwood United Methodist Church (KUMC) is pleased to welcome the entire St. Louis Community to a one-of-a-kind “U2Charist” service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. The event will be held at the church located at 201 W. Adams in downtown Kirkwood.
The U2Charist will feature 11 songs by the iconic rock band, U2, woven around the biblical story of the Last Supper. This is the first time that KUMC has produced a service of this kind, but the church’s annual production of “Let it Be Christmas – A Rock Opera” draws capacity crowds to local theaters year after year.
Associate Pastor Rocky Marlowe discovered the concept of a U2Charist service while doing some internet research this winter and decided to create a service of this kind for KUMC. “U2 has been long-known for their deeply spiritual lyrics and God-centered message, so the band’s music provides an incredible resource from which to re-imagine and retell the age old story of the Christ’s last days,” Marlowe said.
