Webster University Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Singers Present Fall Concert

The Webster University Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Singers will present the 2012 Fall Debut concert. The Chamber Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Paul Davis, and the Chamber Singers are conducted by Dr. Trent Patterson.

The Chamber Orchestra, now in its fourth year, will open the concert with Giacomo Rossini's popular "Overture to the Italian in Algiers." Following, the orchestra will perform the impressionistic music of Maurice Ravel as it presents his "Mother Goose Suite." The five tableaus depict various scenes from children's stories, including Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, and Beauty and the Beast. The orchestra closes its program with Mozart's Symphony No. 33, which was composed while Mozart was employed in Salzburg by Archbishop Collerado.

The Chamber Singers, a select ensemble of 16 singers, will perform a cappella choral works by Giuseppe di Bianco, Johannes Brahms, Morton Lauridsen, and William Walton. Joining in the concert will be the McCluer North High School Chamber Singers, who will be featured as a guest choir on the program.
