Fashion Friday: Avannabel in Kirkwood

Get your little ones ready for fall and winter with some cute outfits from the children's boutique.

The Fashion

Whether you're in need of a monogrammed tee or a Christmas outfit, has your little ones covered for fall and winter.

Our five featured looks are all for little girls, but the store carries plenty of items for babies and little boys. The store specializes in clothing for kids ages 0-4, but as it is all custom-made, they also offer items all the way up to adult-sized tops for teens and moms.

First, try a fun white, ruffled top ($28-32) with a big appliqued monogram at the center with a pair of aqua leggings with white chiffon trim at the end ($23). Top the look off with a cute matching bow ($6-10) in your little girl's hair.

For Halloween, go for a black tutu skirt ($20), which looks great with a white tee that features a witch's boot applique ($28-32), a pair of black leggings and a pair of black ballet flats. To accessorize, add a Halloween monster bow ($6-10) in the hair, and another multi-colored Halloween bow ($6-10) at the waist.

For a more casual Christmas outfit, try a long-sleeved white T-shirt with a green jumper ($44) and white leggings with red chiffon trim ($23). Keep the hair simple with a red bow ($6-10).

For something a little more whimsical this Christmas, go for a red pettiskirt ($42-56), which looks great with those same leggings ($23), the same bow ($6-10) and a white T-shirt with a monogrammed ornament applique ($28-32).

Of course, you can't go wrong with a T-shirt dress for Christmas comfort. A red monogrammed dress with white and red polka dot ribbon detailing ($38) looks great with those white with red chiffon leggings ($23) and red bow ($6-10).

Avannabel includes monogramming in the prices of their clothing.

The Facts

Jennifer Laub first started Avannabel as an online-only business in December 2005.

"I was working as a flight attendant and wanted a change so I could spend more time with my kids," Laub said.

In October 2009, as her kids were starting to get older, Laub opened the Avannabel store at 217 S. Kirkwood Rd.

"It allows me to be creative," Laub said of the business, which specializes in custom clothing.

As Laub lives in her Des Peres and her kids are in the Kirkwood School District, she found it a natural choice to open her business in Kirkwood.

"It was a no-brainer," she said. "There is a great sense of community here, and I always said, 'If I open a store, it will be in Kirkwood.' It was a good decision."

Laub is next looking forward to starting a monthly craft night for area moms, with the first one likely to be in September. No date has been set yet, but she said to stay tuned to the Avannabel Facebook page for updates.

More information about the boutique and clothing can be found on the Avannabel website.
