The Facts

Co-owners Melissa Ewen and Nicole Vines first opened Finders Keepers in March 2005 on West Jefferson Avenue in Kirkwood.

"We started as just resale, but we slowly started adding new stuff," Ewen said.

In the resale area, they carry for boys and girls ages 12 months to 12 years. With the new clothing, they carry sizes for infants through 12-year-olds.

Ewen and Vines are both mothers, which they feel has been key to their success.

"If we think we'd buy it, it translates nicely in our shop," Ewen said.

"We're our customer's demographic," Vines added. "Our kids have been well-clothed."

In the summer of 2010, they relocated to their current location, 112 E. Jefferson Ave.

"It's almost triple the size," Vines said.

Ewen and Vines chose Kirkwood primarily because they both live there.

"Kirkwood's been really good for our business," Vines said.

"We definitely feel like we're part of a community," Ewen added.

Up next for the boutique is an open house on October 13 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. that will be a "mom's night out." They'll be serving wine to customers, having special sales and unveiling some new items.
