Kirkwood United Church of Christ will host a screening of the film,"Gold Fever",an “eye-opening and inspiring” documentary about the arrival of Goldcorp Inc to a remote Guatemalan village.
Winner of the Rigoberta Menchú Grand Prix at the 2013 Montreal First Peoples
Festival, Gold Fever is a hard-hitting documentary about three women resisting
a transnational gold mine in their community. This film is an opportunity to
both learn about and to discuss the issues of globalized resource extraction.
Refreshments will be available for a free will offering. Proceeds will go towards KUCC's future mutual partnership with the CEDEPCA agency in Guatemala.
