The Kirkwood Historical Society (KHS) is constantly striving to improve the condition of our 162-year-old Greek Revival home, Muddβs Grove. As part of that effort, we routinely seek historic preservation grants to help with upkeep and repairs to the home. On June 1, 2021, Roy Brown and Holly Washek hosted representatives of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) at Muddβs Grove. DAR provides support for local projects exemplifying the organizationβs mission areas of historic preservation, patriotism and education.Β
Ms. Anita Motz, DAR Chapter Regent, and Ms. Anne Blackburn, DAR Grant Coordinator met with Roy to discuss historic preservation grant possibilities for Muddβs Grove. Holly provided a tour of Muddβs Grove with an extended visit to KHSβs Harold Gould Library where we archive documents, books and artifacts of the history Kirkwood. KHS plans to submit a grant request through DARβsΒ Special Projects GrantsΒ program later this summer to help fund repairs and repainting of Muddβs Grove. We are in the process of raising matching funds for the repainting of Muddβs Grove.Β Β Contributions can be made to the Muddβs Grove Repair and Maintenance Go Fund Me page at https://gofund.me/25c9cf9a
