Kirkwood Police Report Phone Scam, House Burglaries
The following information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate conviction.

The blotter for Dec. 5 through Dec. 11:
Monday, Dec. 5
- At 11:17 a.m., police received two separate reports from Kirkwood residents about a phone scam. The scam involved a company named Government Grant Company and required the resident to send a small amount of money via Western Union. In return the resident would receive a “grant” in the amount of several thousand dollars. Both residents did not send any money and alerted police.
- At 6:31 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 1200 block of Lindgate for a report of an attempted burglary. A relative of the resident found pry marks on a rear door to the residence. No entry was gained to the home.
Tuesday, Dec. 6
- At 2:46 a.m., officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 900 block of South Kirkwood Road. The driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.

- At 10:49 a.m., officers received a report of a theft from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Caroline. The owner reported tools, a generator, and a CD player stolen from the vehicle.
- At 8:24 p.m., a resident from Eureka reported the theft of her wallet while shopping at a business in the 1100 block of South Kirkwood Road. The woman noticed her wallet missing when she went to make a purchase. She later received a phone call from her credit card company informing her that over $5,000 in fraudulent charges were attempted on her stolen credit card at three different businesses located in Sunset Hills.
Thursday, Dec. 8
- At 9:42 a.m., police arrested a man in the 800 block of West Essex for possession of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia.

- At 12:33 a.m., police responded to the area of Timberbrook and Bent Oak for a report of a woman screaming. Officers arrived and found a man and woman who were involved in a physical altercation. The man was arrested. The case was forwarded to the St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
Sunday, Dec. 11
- At 12:40 p.m. officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation on westbound I-44 near Sappington road in Oakland. Routine computer checks revealed the driver had a revoked driver’s license. He was found to have marijuana in his possession and was arrested.
- At 6:02 p.m. a resident from the 1200 block of Oakshire Road reported a residential burglary. Two antique firearms were stolen from the residence while the residents were out of town.
- During the week of Monday, Dec. 5, through Sunday, Dec. 11, Kirkwood Police arrested three men and two women for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. The thefts occurred in the 1000 and 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. One of the men was charged with felony-stealing since he had at least two prior theft-related convictions.
