Webster Groves teen selected as 2015 Bank of America Student Leader

Webster Groves resident Jakini Ingram is one of five St. Louis teens selected for the 2015 Bank of America Student Leaders Program

Jakini Ingram, a Webster Groves resident and rising senior at Webster Groves High School, is one of five St. Louis teens selected to be part of the 2015 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awards the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at a local nonprofit and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.

Ingram is very passionate about the opportunities education can open to those in her community and believes it is the doorway out of poverty. In the future, she hopes to inspire her peers to set more challenging goals to aspire to. Ingram is deeply involved in her community, acting as a Youth Ambassador for the 100 Black Men’s Association of St. Louis and as a youth leader at her church. Both opportunities allow her the opportunity to reach her peers in the community and make a positive impact in their lives.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, each student receives a paid eight-week internship. Ingram is interning at the YWCA. The internships provide students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.
