• Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan inspires MICDS students with story of perseverance (firstalert4.com) — Students at MICDS in Ladue heard Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan share his story of perseverance, from refugee to acclaimed actor, during a campus visit Thursday. His talk, tied to his memoir tour and hosted with The Very Asian Foundation, emphasized resilience, representation, and not fearing failure, leaving many local students feeling inspired.
• Bar mitzvah: Reid Mandel Swillinger (stljewishlight.org) — A Ladue Middle School seventh-grader, Reid Mandel Swillinger, will celebrate his bar mitzvah on October 10 and is active on several local sports teams, including the Ladue Jr. Rams and Ladue Middle School hockey. He also recently began volunteering with Special Blues Hockey, helping athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy adaptive hockey and raise funds for equipment and ice time.
