Former Ladue Mayor Edith Spink Is Remembered By Others

Media outside of Ladue covered the death of the long-time mayor.

The coverage of Mayor Spink's passing went beyond and other Ladue media outlets. Regardless of the approach each medium took, two details of the mayor's life were highlighted by all: her tenure as the area's longest-serving mayor and her fight against lawn signs that went all the way to the Supreme Court.

Here is how some news organizations noted the loss:

  • Radio station KTRS wrote a paragraph about Spink’s tenure as mayor.
  • The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s obituary discussed her various legal battles on behalf of the city’s ordinances.
  • The St. Louis Beacon's lengthy story focused on her life history, details about the Supreme Court case and her various volunteer activities. This story was also picked up by Investigative News Network.
  • Missouri State News referred to Spink’s years of service as well as her attempt to ban lawn signs.
