Grand Opening of Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen at Plaza Frontenac

When Pottery Barn Kids closed at the St. Louis Galleria several years ago, many people were unsure about making the trip out to the Chesterfield location. Like many, I went there on a limited basis and did most of my shopping online. When news broke about Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen taking over the previous site of Williams Sonoma Home at Plaza Frontenac, most of us with young children and teens were thrilled.

I took a private tour prior to the grand opening with Candace Miller, the Pottery Barn Teen public relations manager, and learned what sets apart this new store from other stores that have been located in St. Louis and around the country. “The Frontenac Pottery Barn Teen location (which has its own private entrance and also connects to Pottery Barn Kids) is only one of four physical stores in the country,” Miller said. Pottery Barn also  launched a new line called Pottery Barn Dorm (in 2010) to cater to college students. Its line includes dorm room accessories, bedding and small refrigerators. You can see many of the Pottery Barn Dorm items within the new Pottery Barn Teen store.

Other amenities to this location include on site monogramming (which I am particularly excited about) and free design consultation to plan out your child’s room in one of two on-site design centers. And located in the Pottery Barn Teen section design center is a monitor that plays your room's design throughout the store, something no other Pottery Barn Store offers. 

Right now Pottery Barn is gearing up for back to school. It has almost anything you could think of when it comes to lunch, locker, dorm room, or backpack accessories. 

“We just launched our new fall line, and with that are offering a program ‘Gear Up to Give Back,’ in which parents can come into the store (either Pottery Barn Kids or Pottery Barn Teen) and register their child’s school; subsequently their school will then receive 2 to 4 percent of the total revenue sold in relation to that school registered from May 10-December 31, 2011,” Miller said.

For all animal lovers, Pottery Barn is also giving back to the ASPCA.  With the purchase of a pillow from one of the Pottery Barn Teen Pet Pillows, they will donate $5 to the ASPCA. “It’s a great cause and a great way for us to give back,” Miller said. Teens can choose from one of seven designs in the Pet Pillow Collection.

The new location also boasts a layout organized by gender and age appropriateness. The new Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen location does not have the same feel as typical stores.

The way the items are displayed in the store make it feel more like a design center as well as give you more ideas on decorating.

The hours will be 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-7 p.m. Sunday. Both Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen offer free design consultative services by appointment. Upcoming community events include tea parties, story times and decorating classes free of charge. 

After touring the fantastic new addition to Plaza Frontenac, I have no doubt that given its location and amenities it will do quite well.
