What’s new in home fashions this spring season? Color inspired from the great outdoors. This year, designers are mixing and matching patterns in bold new ways that most do-it-yourselfers would never consider. And guess what, it is working beautifully. Greg Norman and Kimberly Scails were eager to show Patch the latest patterns and colors for spring.

“Look at this,” said Sales Associate Kimberly Scails as she pointed out a display of several Ikat fabrics in different patterns and colors. “It is something you have to see as a finished piece. I would have never put this together, but it just looks beautiful,” she said. She was right. The key is to keep an open mind and see it put together.

Ikat, a new twist to modern home decorating, is an ancient, tedious, textile process in India, which consists of hand-dyeing and hand-weaving beautiful designs into remarkable fabrics. Genuine woven Ikat fabrics are rare in the marketplace; they are truly a work of art, as each one is crafted inch-by-inch at the hands and eyes of the weaver. Ikat fabrics use marvelous abstract designs, which often add a special touch to a room. Calico Corners carries a stunning selection imported from India.

“Ikat adds a whimsical look. It can bring a big punch of something different to a room,” said Scails.

Norman added, “It is a way to introduce a little modern to a traditional design.”

Greek Key banding is also new this spring. It is essentially trim that is added to draperies, pillows, bedding or anywhere you want to add elegance and beauty.

“Tis the season for freshening up the patio; we have lots of options as far as patterns go,” said Norman.

They use high density foam for outdoor cushions. Porous cushions are important because of exposure to the weather. The pores in the cushions help them to drain if they get wet, which keeps them form the threat of mildew. The high density foam cushions come with a ten year guarantee.
