Ladue Dollars for Scholars Hosts a Rockin' Auction Party to Benefit Ladue Graduating Seniors

Seven deserving graduating Ladue seniors recieve scholarships toward pursuing their education after high school.

Supporters of Ladue High School scholarship fund, Ladue Dollars for Scholars held their third annual fundraiser, Ladue Rocks, Saturday at the beautiful ISC  Surfaces gallery in Olivette. It was not the typical sit down dinner, but a rockin’ auction party complete with a rockin’ D.J. and cutouts of flaming guitars and other rock-n-roll themed decorations. The decorations were creatively handmade by Liz Smith and Caroline Jager.

“It’s a great Venue. It (the event) is supposed to be fun and casual. It has been very successful,” said Bridget Hermann, Ladue High School Principal.

Seven Ladue seniors will receive scholarships for college from the proceeds raised from the fundraising efforts of the evening which include a raffle and silent and live auctions.

“Last year, fifteen thousand dollars was raised,” said Hermann. According to Dianne Patershuk, the goal this year is twenty thousand.

Recipients were chosen by the Ladue Scholarship committee, which is comprised of Ladue faculty members. The scholarships were awarded based on financial need, student involvement in the school and the community, demonstration of strong academic skills, exemplification of specific character traits including: respect, responsibility, honesty and self-discipline.

Each auction table and auction item was named after a song. The House of the Rising Sun table included items for home and garden; Fun, Fun, Fun was all about entertainment items; Hit Me with Your Best Shot was sports items and tickets to sporting events and Vogue was loaded with fashion and beauty products and services.

Everyone enjoyed cold cocktails, tasty hors devours, upbeat music and a really great time as they mingled and made their bids for their favorite auction items.
