I have stayed quiet for years and years on this issue, but I think it is time I raise it... Is anyone else disgusted by the tacky signs that label nearly EVERY subdivision/street in Ladue? They are truly an eyesore and completely unnecessary. How middle class to have to announce, "we live on a fancy street, just look at our fancy sign as proof!" Years ago we were all in an uproar over one little anti-war sign, I won't take you down that road again, but I remember scoffing at the time, "Ha! The city allows hundreds of unnecessary and over-the-top signs at the edge of almost every drive and they're upset about this?" The next time you drive down Clayton Rd, have a look! Clutter, clutter everywhere and they are getting less discreet each decade. I for one can't stand it. For fun, read Paul Fussell's searing look at the American Class Systerm, called, aptly enough, Class. Read it and then drive around our beloved town and weep.
