Sports run deep in Ladue, and Ladue Horton Watkins High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Rams uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Ladue Horton Watkins High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


Becky Sauerbrunn – National & International Soccer Sensation

One of the most decorated defenders in U.S. Women’s National Team history, Becky Sauerbrunn rose from the fields of Ladue High School — where the soccer field now bears her name — to a 16-year international career that included 219 caps, two World Cup titles, an Olympic gold medal and seven NWSL Best XI honors. Sauerbrunn captained the national team 42 times and was a trailblazer both on and off the pitch, advocating for equal pay and women’s rights. (Source: US Soccer, High Post Hoops)


Jack Fox – Top NFL Punter

Before becoming one of the NFL’s most reliable punters with the Detroit Lions, Jack Fox made waves as a quarterback and kicker at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. After a stellar college career at Rice, where he was a Ray Guy Award finalist, Fox went undrafted but quickly proved himself with the Lions. Jehu Chesson – Record-Setting Wide Receiver

Born in Liberia and raised in St. Louis, Jehu Chesson attended Ladue High School before making his mark at the University of Michigan. The speedy wide receiver tied a school record with four receiving touchdowns in a single game and racked up over 1,000 all-purpose yards in 2015. Courtney Van Buren – Dual-Sport Standout Turned Powerhouse NFL Tackle

A dual-sport standout at Ladue, Courtney Van Buren starred in football and shot put before going on to excel at Arkansas–Pine Bluff. Drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Van Buren brought size, speed and versatility to the offensive line. Marty Hogan – Racquetball Revolutionary

A legend on the racquetball court, Marty Hogan graduated from Ladue High School before going on to become one of the most dominant players the sport has ever seen. Known for his 140+ mph serve and aggressive play, Hogan won more than 100 titles, became racquetball’s first millionaire, captured national championships in both indoor and outdoor formats and has been inducted into multiple halls of fame.
