St. Louis Fed Sues Ladue's McCarthy Building: 5 Things to Know

According to a recent article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is suing Ladue-based  McCarthy Building Cos. in connection to the installation of 500 windows the Fed says now need replacing.

The St. Louis Fed reportedly estimates damages at more than $1.5 million.

The article states McCarthy was the construction manager on the original job and is now being sued of breach of contract.

Here are five additional pieces of information the Post-Dispatch article explains about the lawsuit.

1. The Fed said it has to replace the windows because they are defective after being installed in 2008 on its downtown headquarters.
2. The lawsuit stated that McCarthy oversaw the installation of 498 windows on six floors of the building at One Federal Reserve Bank Plaza.
3. The widows were to be designed to be resistant to blasts for security purposes.
4. In a 2011 inspection of the windows, the St. Louis Fed alleges it found that the windows began to separate into layers and were defective.
5. The St. Louis Fed reportedly sought to resolve the issue with McCarthy for more than 21 months, but was unsuccessful.
