· Pursue your interests – concerts, classes, whatever appeals to you.
· Set up a Facebook account and re-connect with old friends and friends of friends.
· Invite neighbors over for dinner or a potluck meal.
· Join an exercise class.
· Attend church or synagogue.
· Volunteer.
· Be willing to take a risk. When you meet someone you like, ask for an email address.
Another option is to employ a home health agency that provides companions – a great idea if it’s difficult for you to get out of the house or if you are not up for activities outside the home. An agency companion might also be able to provide transportation to get out to events and other social activities. MediNurse, St. Louis’ premier private duty nursing company, has companions on staff.
