Screened in Porches are wonderful additions to any home. They add extra good weather living area to your home and keep those meddlesome bugs from ruining your communing time with nature!
The concepts of the porch dates to ancient Greece were it served as an entrance marker for halls, gardens, and temples. The idea later spread to America and flourished in the 1840s first appearing in the South then moving on to most other parts of the United States. The porch merged the indoors with the outdoors to provide leisure time and helped families to stay connected with neighbors and each other.

The screening-in of porches was a logical outgrowth of window screening on windows in the main part of the home. By the turn of the 20th century, porches were outfitted with wicker or rattan furniture with lots of cushions and quickly became the most popular summertime living space.
If you are screening in your own porch make sure to use aluminum or copper screens; it lasts forever and bugs aren’t as apt to eat holes in your screens as fast as lower cost screening. The cost can range from $1000 for a simple screened porch to $20,000 for an elaborate, custom design. Overall, screened-in porches add more living space to the home and are an inviting place to hang with your family and friends!
