E4 (gifted) students at MRH Middle SchoolΒ worked during 3rd quarter to create, design, and write resolutions that simulateΒ the process the United Nations would go through.Β Scholars researched country culture and data to determine a list of issues they could address in their resolution.Β  After writing pre-ambulatory clauses with the data supporting their country's problem and Universal Declaration of Human Rights articles, they wrote operative clausesΒ that addressed their original solutions, where funding would come from, the timeline of their program, and how they planned on evaluating the effectiveness of said solution.Β Β

Based on that work, threeΒ MRH 8th graders were invited to attend an honors model United Nations at Civitas.Β  The students are Logan Phillips, Patrick Meyers, and Blue Bynum.Β

The students took partΒ in a virtual simulation where twoΒ other middle schools participated and each school was represented by twoΒ exemplary resolutions chosen by the Civitas team.Β During the simulation, students were assessed on engagement throughout their classwork and during the simulation.Β In addition, these threeΒ students were chosen based on questionsΒ asked, engagement of collaboration and communication during project work, and leadership during their learning.
