Mini Cooper Development Moves Ahead

Preparations for a proposed Autohaus Mini Cooper dealership near the corner of Hanley and Manchester roads moved ahead Monday night when the Maplewood Planning and Zoning Commission approved three petitions benefiting the development. 

Anthony Traxler, public works director for Maplewood, presented three petitions to the commission. The petitions called for:

• Vacating city streets within a portion of the proposed development so new lot lines can be drawn.
• Consolidating lots and creating a new eastern property line in the development that runs parallel with the existing MetroLink easement.
• Establishing three new lots, one each, for the auto dealership, a storm water retention area and an 80-car parking lot for , which presently has no parking.

The petitions were presented by Traxler and approved by the seven-member commission in a meeting that lasted approximately 20 minutes.

“This is basically housekeeping,” Traxler said.

Other parts of the development plan were previously approved by Maplewood City Council.

The commission’s recommendations will be sent to city council on August 9.
