Police Make 18 Galleria Calls in 3 Weeks

The following information was supplied by the Richmond Heights Police Department.   Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Saturday, May 11

• Officers responded to Macy’s where security detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $258 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and later released on a summons.
• Officers responded to Macy’s where security detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $148 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and later released on a summons.

• Officers responded to Urban Outfitter’s where security detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $52 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and later released on a summons.

• Officers responded to assist security at the Galleria a subject who had attempted to shoplift from the H and M store. The subject fled through the mall causing a disturbance. The subject was arrested and later released on a summons.

• Officers responded to the Cheesecake Factory where management had a five-dollar bill that appeared to be counterfeit. The bill was seized and this report was forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service for further investigation.

• Officers responded to the Galleria lot where a dog was found alone inside a locked vehicle that was in obvious heat distress. The owner of the dog was located and issued a summons.
• Officers responded to Dillard’s after a subject stole a stack of jeans from the store and security gave chase. The jeans were recovered but the subject made good her escape.

• Officers responded to Sephora where security had detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $241 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and held pending a muni warrant application.
• Officers responded to Sephora where security had detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $62 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and held pending a muni warrant application.

• Officers responded to Macy’s where security had detained a subject on suspicion of stealing $244 in merchandise. The subject was arrested and held pending a muni warrant application.
• A camera lens was reported taken from a vehicle over a week ago while it was parked on the Galleria lot. 

• A known shoplifter was detained by Galleria security and found to be in possession of a foil lined bag (booster bag) used to defeat security sensors. The subject was arrested and held pending a muni warrant application.

• A 14-year-old juvenile was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy’s  He was released to his mother and the case sent to St. Louis County Family Court for their consideration.

• An employee of American Eagle Outfitters had her bank card and driver’s license stolen from her purse stored in a back room of the business.  The bank card was used in the Galleria food court and two transactions were denied at Dillard’s.
• A 16-year-old female was arrested for trespassing on Galleria property after previously being banned for a May 2013 shoplifting arrest from Dillard’s.  Her mother refused to pick her up and she was taken to family court in Clayton.
• Two juveniles were taken into custody for shoplifting at Macy’s.  They were later released to a custodial parent and the matter forwarded to the St. Louis County Family Court.

• A 20-year-old female and a 15-year-old juvenile were arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.  The adult was issued a municipal court summons and the juvenile released to a guardian.

• Two teenage males and a juvenile male assaulted a pedestrian as he walked on the Galleria Parkway stealing his cell phone and wristwatch. All three suspects were captured by Clayton Police Department and the victim’s property recovered.  State warrants for second degree robbery were issued against the two adult male suspects, with bond set at $40,000 each, while the juvenile was referred to family court.
