Maplewood Richmond Heights head football coach Rich Nixon is being replaced by J.C. Kime, head defensive coach of the past two seasons.
MRH Director of Communications Brian Adkisson said Nixonβs contract as head football coach was an βextra-duty contractβ and was only ever intended to be for one year.

βThere was nothing about someone being asked to step down, thatβs not the case,β Adkisson said. βThey were a one-year interim basis for both of those (coach and PE teacher). He was hired as an athletic director, and that is what he is continuing to be.β
He said an incoming math teacher will become an assistant football coach, and Nixonβs former position as PE teach will be filled.
βWe shifted a lot of teachers around, which is quite normal during the summer months,β Adkisson said. βObviously if heβs not doing it, we had to fill it in some capacity.βΒ
Rich Nixon could not immediately be reached for comment.
