Dr. Don Rugraffβs last day as Brentwood High School principal is the last day of June, but he plans to continue to work.
He said he loves the work andΒ Brentwood High School,Β but because of the way the state public school retirement system is set up, he would lose money for the rest of his life if he stayed.
He said each of the five classes, during his time, have contributed something different. "They have their own legacy," he said.
βIβve only had two graduating classes Iβve been with for four years, last yearβs and this yearβs. Theyβre both phenomenal classes,β he said. βOutstanding leadership. Kids are very bright, talented in many different ways.β
He said this yearβs class will graduate holding the highest ACT composite score in the history of Brentwood High school, a 24.35.
βTheir best years are yet to come. This is an outstanding class and they all bring their own gift to the table,β he said. βI donβt know of a better way of ending my career in public education than at Brentwood High School. Itβs a wonderful job.β
Rugraff said helping the new principal, Dr. Ed Johnson, move into the principal office is one of the things heβll be doing before he leaves.Β
He said he hopes thereβs enough time between jobs to do some trout fishing, maybe a little hunting. He also said heβd like to take the opportunity to spend time with his son who is back from college.
