Saint Louis Symphony Education Program at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School

Music Teacher, Denise Dolan, applied to the Symphony and Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School was one of the eight schools chosen in the Saint Louis Area to participate.

Symphony in Your School is a 6-week in depth program in which the STL Symphony Musicians engage directly with students in the classroom. The program promotes participation and interaction with various forms of music. This week’s topic “Instrument Playground” familiarized the students with the various instruments and the instrument families; strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. A traveling “hands on” kit of instruments was brought to the school and the children had the opportunity to create sound on real orchestral instruments.
