Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School Receives Anonymous Donation

Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School stays in the forefront in the prevention of bullying

Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School received an anonymous donation for $5,000 to support the efforts by the school to address bullying. Saint Mary Magdalen wants to stay in the forefront of this social concern. Principal Kathy Wiseman addressed the parents at back to school night with the news of the funding and a plan on how the school will address the prevention of bullying and other forms of social cruelty along with the commitment to ethical behavior.

Mrs. Wiseman feels it is more important now than ever that our students are given the strategy and the tools to deal with society in a Christian and ethical way. It is our job as a Catholic School to provide these strategies and tools to our students. A presentation will be given to parents and teachers and training will be held to implement the curriculum. The plan is to implement the “Owning Up” curriculum that has been written and developed to teach the children to have moral courage and Christian values and virtues to cope with the daily encounters that they face.

To further enhance instruction, Saint Mary Magdalen middle school parents and students have been invited to a Brentwood Community presentation on September 14 concerning “Rachel’s Challenge”, a program that focusses on spreading kindness and acceptance of others in a dramatic way.
