I never cease to be amazed by the quality of instructors we are able to have teaching our classes for Brentwood Parks and Recreation. There are so many excellent and noted men and women associated with our programs, in such a small city, for such reasonable fees! We have World Champion Igor Lisovsky (see earlier blog) working with our Learn to Skate program, former professional soccer player Paul Zarky (see earlier blog) working with our Soccer Camps, and tennis instructor extraordinaire Mark Platt provides us with tennis lessons.
Mark Platt was named one of the top 5 tennis teachers in the United States by Tennis Magazines Buyer's Guide May 1991. His Beginner's World Tennis was conceived in 1984 to provide an all-encompassing program specifically geared to beginning tennis players. (reprint from http://www.saintlouistennis.com/about.htm )
His goal has been to give as many people as possible a chance to play the game he loves. The methods he uses give a fun spin to learning tennis.

Mark’s strong feelings about tennis are evident in his statement to USTA reporters:
“To anyone, young or old I wholeheartedly endorse tennis! This is a sport that lasts a lifetime. It allows you to set individual goals, develop a plan to meet those goals, and give back toyour community. It’s also a great way to meet people anddevelop friendships that can last a lifetime.” (To read the whole interview with Mark Platt, visit http://assets.usta.com/assets/641/15/Summer2012.pdf )
