This weekend the Animal Protective Association will publicly display the Harry & Hanley statues for the first time! The public art project celebrating the 90th anniversary of the animal organization features 20 unique, larger-than-life dog and cat sculptures created by renowned sculptor Harry Weber and custom-decorated by leading area artists.
The project features 10 cats (named Harry after the sculptor) and 10 dogs (named Hanley after the APA’s mascot) decorated in themes ranging from Stan Meowsial to a caped crusader named Kanine KayOss. Towering at more than 6’ on their bases, several statues will debut at Busch Stadium this Saturday, June 22, as part of Purina Pooches in the Ballpark. From there, the statues will spend the summer displayed at prominent locations throughout the St. Louis area!
Visit the sculptures and take photos with them at places like The Muny, Lambert-International Airport , the APA, and Blueberry Hill!
In September, the sculptures will come together at the entrances of the St. Louis Art Fair in Clayton before being auctioned at the APA’s 90th anniversary birthday bash on September 14 at the Contemporary Art Museum.
