
Mehlville High School graduateΒ Tabitha Williams is aΒ first generation college student. She is aΒ St. Louis University (SLU) student and has accomplished another first.
Not only is she is theΒ first person in herΒ family to attend college, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, she is also the first recipient of theΒ Joe Pollack Scholarship.
The scholarship is aΒ $4,000 award theΒ St. Louis Media History FoundationΒ established to honor theΒ former Post-Dispatch writer, critic and radio commentator Joe Pollack. Pollack died in 2012 at 81.

Williams graduated inΒ 2012 and isΒ in a five-year program in occupational therapy at SLU.
