Mehlville Grad Receives College Basketball Awards

Gozie Uzendu received the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Scholar-Athlete award at the college’s athletic awards
banquet on April 7 for his accomplishments in the classroom while on the varsity men’s basketball team.  Uzendu, a second-year pharmacy student and starting forward for the STLCOP Eutectics during the 2012-13 season, was also named the team’s Offensive Player of the
Year.   He averaged 13.4 points per game and 8.28 rebounds per game, tying the STLCOP record for most double doubles in a season with eight.

The son of Bon and Gina Uzendu of St. Louis, Uzendu is a 2011 graduate of Mehlville High School where he was on the honor roll.

The College’s mascot – the Eutectic – is a common term in pharmacy describing the scientific process of two solids being combined to form a liquid. It is the perfect metaphor for the St. Louis College of Pharmacy’s Athletic Program – combining athletics and a demanding academic program.
