National Right to Work Committee Announces Missouri Newspaper Ads to Expose Claire McCaskill’s Views on Forced Unionism

Statewide newspaper ad blitz will inform Missourians about candidates’ views on Big Labor’s special privileges and McCaskill’s refusal to oppose Big Labor’s forced dues powers

Springfield, VA (October 31, 2012) – The National Right to Work Committee announced at a press conference today in Springfield the launch of a newspaper advertising campaign aimed at informing Missouri voters about their US Senate candidates’ views on forced unionism.

The ads are part of a nationwide campaign to inform the public where Senate candidates stand on the important issue of forced unionism, and to push for passage of a National Right to Work law in Congress. The National Right to Work Committee is also unveiling TV and newspaper ads targeted to Virginia, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Arizona.

The ads focus on senatorial candidates Claire McCaskill’s and Todd Akin’s records on forced unionism, as well as their responses to the Committee’s survey program, a comprehensive questionnaire sent to candidates nationwide to determine if they oppose forced unionism and support the Right to Work principle.

“Claire McCaskill and Todd Akin are locked in a heated race for Missouri’s contested senate seat, and Missouri voters deserve to know each candidate’s views on the forced unionism issue,” explained Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Committee.

“Nearly 80 percent of Americans support the principle that no worker should be forced to pay union dues to get or keep a job. Moreover, Right to Work laws are proven job creators that enjoy bipartisan support in 23 states across the country,” continued Mix.

“Todd Akin has returned his candidate survey 100 percent opposed to forced unionism. McCaskill, on the other hand, has a long record of supporting coercive union boss powers.

“McCaskill’s pro-Big Labor record in the Senate, including cosponsoring “Card Check” legislation designed to eliminate secret ballot elections from union organizing campaigns, is very troubling for America’s workers. We believe Missouri voters should be informed of McCaskill’s track record of accommodating forced unionism.

“The ads will also encourage McCaskill to repudiate her pro-Big Labor track record and publicly endorse the Right to Work principle,” concluded Mix.
