As part of an ongoing commitment to patient safety and quality care, St. Anthony's Medical Center in south St. Louis County recently added a high-risk birth simulator to its training program. The simulator, called SimMom, is a full-body, interactive manikin that helps new health care professionals learn about situations arising during high-risk deliveries. The manikin is designed to "cry," "bleed," and show other important signs mothers and babies experience during birth. The manikin, manufactured by Laerdal Medical, was made possible by a donation from the Dana Brown Charitable Trust to St. Anthony's Charitable Foundation. St. Anthony's is one of only a few hospitals in the region to have SimMom technology.
