Are You Counting the Days?

Activities For the Dog Days of Summer

At the onset of summer vacation, I drove past a marquee to a school that read, “Don’t count the days. Make the days count.”  Obviously, children, teachers and parents in this school were anxiously awaiting summer vacation and counting down the days one by one and getting excited. I’m sure as the number neared single digits, productivity slowed down tremendously.

Now that school has been out for awhile, I hear rumblings from others of how there are only 19 days of summer vacation left. Did you catch the negative tone in that statement?  “Only 19 days.” As the number of summer vacation days drifts closer to single digits, speed up. Boost your productivity!

Stop counting the days my friends. Make these days count. What can you do today to make your tomorrow better? What can you do in 19 days?

9.  Visit your Cliff Cave Park for a hiking adventure, pack a lunch, and spend the day. Repeat!

8.  Visit your local library and fall in love with reading again.

7.  Exercise AND be active. Try not to fool yourself that going for a stroll in the park is your workout. That is your active lifestyle.

6.  Start with one pushup and add one on each day. Soon, you will be doing 20!

5.  Don’t like pushups? Try lunges, squats, or planks. What do you have to lose? Do them all!

4.  Set up a time to grill with your neighbors or friends that you said, “We have to get together sometime this summer,” but you still haven’t seen them yet!

3. Go see a movie. There are some great family features on the big screen at Keller 8 Cine at a great price.

2. Break out the hose and play in it no matter how old you are.

1.  Each day tell someone you love how much you love them. Repeat!
