Breakout steampunk web series Dirigible Days to screen at St. Louis Filmmaker’s Showcase

ST. LOUIS, Missouri, July 1, 2013 – The award-winning science fiction web series Dirigible Days will screen at this year’s annual Whitaker St. Louis Filmmaker’s Showcase. In its 13th year, the film festival will be held over July 14th-18th at University City’s historic Tivoli Theatre and presents movies from St. Louis-born directors, writers, editors, and producers.

Dirigible Days, produced by Day 304 Productions out of Oakville, follows the adventures of gun-arm toting Captain Santiago Dunbar and the crew of the airship Beatrix as they transport a devious bounty hunter and his prisoner, the sadistic leader of the Cult of Cthulhu. Anthony Daniels (C-3PO from Star Wars) provides the steampunk web series’ opening narration.

“Steampunk” is a burgeoning science-fiction genre inspired by the works of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and H.P. Lovecraft which mixes 19thcentury fantasy and the Wild West with anachronistic steam-powered technology. Hallmarks of the genre include goggle-wearing heroes, elaborate mechanisms, and the dirigibles alluded to in the web series’ title.

Winner for “Best Series” at the 2013 High Seas Steampunk Film Festival, the five part web series has been edited into a 46 minute film that will be featured in the Showcase’s fantasy shorts lineup. Dirigible Days screens at 9:30pm on July 15th at the Tivoli Theatre.
