Eureka, Mehlville Feature Contrasting Offensive Styles in Upcoming Game

Eureka will bring a balanced offensive attack into South County Friday night when the Wildcats visit for an early season Suburban West Conference showdown.

Last week, Eureka quarterback Seth Pratt, receiver Zach Sutter and running back Spencer Stein combined for nearly 500 total offensive yards in a 35-28 loss to Lafayette. But this time, the trio will be facing a Mehlville defense that nearly .

Equally formidable is Mehlville’s offense, which features a pounding ground assault that racked up 271 yards on 35 carries in its first game. The Panthers’ passing game, on the other hand, consisted of just one completion in eight attempts. Even if they were to rush the ball on every play, there’s no telling who would be carrying the ball.

Although junior Chayse Brown’s number was called the most last week (12 carries for 110 yards), seven of his teammates also ran against Northwest.

Still, an opponent relying almost entirely on its running game may be the best thing for Eureka. The Wildcats surrendered 355 yards in the air last week against Lafayette.
