The exam is painless and involves a doctor examining the nose, lips, tongue, throat, voice box and neck. The doctor will also tell you what signs and symptoms to look out for, and answer any questions you may have.
Head and neck cancers are often preventable, and curable if detected early. Risk factors include smoking, chewing/dipping tobacco, drinking alcohol regularly, or being over the age of 40.
