The Rebirth: A Screening Presented by Invisible Children

For over 25 years, The Lords Resistance Army (LRA) has been raping, pilaging, torturing, and kidnapping children into war in Northen Uganda. Figurativly speaking, this issue has been fairly unknown on the world's podium. invisible Children, founded in 2004, inspires students and activisits alike to advocate peace in the region. Since 2004, Invisible Children has pushed several successful peace initiatives, slowly disarming the LRA; however, much work is to be done to eradicate the horrors the citizens of Eastern Africa face.

On October 4th, 2012 student advocates from Oakville High School will come together and explain what you can do to help shed a glimmer of peace in the war-torn region. This event will consist of a documentary, further explaining the history and politics of the war. A Ugandan boy, named Geoffrey, will be attending and telling his real-life accounts of the violence he has seen first-hand. Food and drink will be served.

It will be a inspiring and eye-opening evening and EVERYONE in the commnunity is welcome to particpate in the movement. Please join us and do more than just watch.
