Gas Leak Halted At Sinclair Ford

Firefighters responded to a gas leak at Dave Sinclair Ford on South Lindbergh, the leak has been stopped.

At 11:13 a.m., firefighters responded to a gas leak at on South Lindbergh Boulevard. 

A customer had backed her car into the business's gas regulator, causing gas to free flow out of the container according to Mehlville Fire Protection District Chief Tim White. 

Firefighters immediately turned off the gas coming into the building and evacuated the area.

"The base was still intact, so firefighters just had to turn off the service," White said. 

Sinclair has called in technicians to fix the regulator and repair the pipes. They should arrive later today.

"The gas was expelling at a high rate. Luckily, there was a breeze, so some dissipated into the air," White said. 

White said a large amount was spilled due to the large volume of gas kept at the car dealership.
