Get Out: Gary Sinise to Play For Local Veteran

Lt. Dan Band at Family Arena

: Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Charles Family Arena. 
Why go: Actor, musician and Illinois native Gary Sinise will perform a benefit concert for wounded Marine Corporal Todd Nicely, of Arnold, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Charles Family Arena.

Nicely, 26, is one of only three surviving quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nicely lost his arms and legs on March 26, 2010 when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan.

The concert will feature Sinise's Lt. Dan Band and represents a collaboration between Sinise and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation in New York, which has committed to building a new “smart home” for Nicely specially equipped to meet his needs. 
Cost: Ticket prices for the concert range from $25 to $150 for VIP seats that include a backstage VIP meet and greet with Sinise. Tickets are available through Metrotix at 314-534-1111

Where/When: Friday, May 27 through Monday, May 30 from 10 a.m. til 9 p.m. (11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday) at the South County Mall Service Center, next to Sears
Why go: As you shop this weekend, drop off care items for the tornado victims of Joplin, MO.
Cost: Free 

Where/When: Thursday, May 26 until Monday, May 30 all day at the , 2 Millstone Campus Drive
Why go: Support your favorite senior as they compete at track and field events.
Cost: Free 

Where/When: Saturday, May 28 from 9-10 a.m. at 4556 Telegraph Road
Why go: Rides, booths, food, beverages and fun await those who come.
Cost: Free 

Where/When: Friday, May 27 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at , 5430 Telegraph Road
Why go: News junkies, unite! Join other adults from the community for a cup of coffee and a lively discussion about current events and issues. Bring a sack lunch with you if you like, and the library will provide coffee and water. Share your opinions and insights, then listen to what input others have to offer. Compare notes on local gossip, talk about what's going on in the rest of the world.
