  • Weather: We're still in a heat advisory until 7 p.m. tonight. Temperatures will reach 96 degrees with clouds in the morning giving way to full-on sunshine according to The Weather Channel. Remember that heat can take a toll on cell phone LCD and touch screens. The iPhone has a warning if it gets too hot, but batteries can expand and screens can crack if left more than 25-30 minutes out in the sun.
  • Gas: Prices drop again! Phillips 66 on Lindbergh and Sam's Club on Mehl Avenue are again at the head of the pack with $3.45 a gallon. Other Phillips 66 locations and Quick Trip are still at $3.49 according to stlouisgasprices.com.
  • Later today, we'll have an in-depth look at how police and bank officials cooperated to bring down an 11-time bank robbery suspect. Also, we have the results of state's review for the Mehlville School District bus system. Our new business column, , will go live at 3 p.m. Check back to find out which local business is featured this week!
  • Food for thought: What do you think of Dunkin' Donuts possibly coming in on Telegraph? The doughnut chain got one step further to approval at Monday's County Planning meeting.
  • Where is Patch? Today, I'll be running around town searching for this week's Viewfinder. If you know of an event or fun spot, let me know: 314-258-1131.
  • Picture this: Check out Post-Dispatch staff photographer JB Forbes' blog post about a timely photo from a car chase that ended near St. Anthony's Medical Center.
  • I keep getting attacked by cicadas while mowing: Female cicadas are attracted to the sound of lawnmowers, weed wackers and hedge trimmers. They think the machines are the males singing and rush over for a date (from Cicada Mania).
