Being the typical girl that I am, I had no clue who or what Highlander was named after. All I noticed was that Highlander was an adorable black Lab mix that was on his best behavior in the car. It makes me darn happy when pups are good in the car: it's the little things in life!
As soon as his named was announced at TWB, however, one of the male staff members quickly went on and on about how awesome the films are. Thus, the male bonding with Highlander began. The men were drawn to Highlander because of his name, and the women were drawn to him because of his sweet personality. Highlander is a guys' guy and a ladies' man all wrapped into one!
Highlander recently arrived at Stray Rescue's shelter, and after living on the streets for who knows how long, he thinks the shelter is pretty awesome. Little does he know that things are about to get even better. If he thinks the shelter is all that, I can only imagine what he will think when he meets his forever family!

Much like , Highlander is a 2-year-old pooch with a puppy-dog face. Although Highlander was a bit shy at the beginning of his day at The Watering Bowl, he quickly came out of his shell and spent the day exploring and making new friends.
One thing Highlander's potential family might want to know is that Highlander is heartworm positive. While heartworms are treatable, treatment is no laughing matter. Highlander hasn't started his treatment, so that is why he got to go to TWB to romp and play all day. Once he starts his treatment, however, he will have to remain calm while the medicine kills the worms in his heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels.

During his treatment, Highlander will need lots of TLC. If you have some to give to this sweetheart, contact Stray Rescue. Even though I will never see the movies for which he is named after, I still think he is heck of a pooch!
