Life in the Parks: Casting Off at Suson Park
Fishers gathered at Suson Park for some late-night follies.
Even with gray clouds rolling in and rain in the forecast, the devotees of late night fishing event were set up for a long evening of good ol' fishing.
Every second Saturday of the month, Suson, Simpson and Spanish Lake Parks keep their gates open long after park hours. From April through October, these catfish-stocked lakes are lined with colorful bobbers and open coolers until 11 p.m. when the fishing comes to an end.
The extended hours give the fishermen a definite advantage. As it turns out, just like us, the fish don't enjoy the heat of summer and tend to stay at the bottom of the lakes until the sun goes down and the water cools off.

But once the heat dies down, the fish start jumping and the hunt is on. Patch stopped by Suson Park for this week's fishing night to pick up some tips and see how the night's catch went.
The next late-night fishing event will be Saturday, Sept. 10 at Suson Park.
