Updated: School Board to Set Tax Rate Tuesday
The board will conduct a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Before their regular meeting Tuesday, the Mehlville School Board will conduct a public tax rate hearing to set the levies for the 2011-2012 school year.
The hearing will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the , 3120 Lemay Ferry Road.
The rates reflect assessed values as of Sept. 15 and must be passed by the board before Oct. 1.

The following are the proposed tax rates per $100 of assessed value:
- Residential: $3.6761, up $.1292 from 2010
- Agricultural: $4.0897, down $.0003 from 2010
- *Commercial: $3.4372, up $.0425 from 2010
- Personal Property: $3.9678, up $.003 from 2010
The district also calculates a blended rate that is a combination of the levies and used by the state. The proposed blended rate for 2011-2012 is $3.6748, an approximate 10-cent increase as a result of the decreased assessed valuation.

The proposed breakdown of the rate is:
- Teacher’s fund $2.0300
- General fund: $1.1693
- Capital: $.4425
- Debt Service: $.0330
