End of First Quarter

It has been wonderful to have students back in classrooms or in M@H and having daily direct contact with our teachers and staff. We truly believe this level of direct support and instruction has been beneficial and that our kids have had a great transition back. What is hard to believe is that we are already rounding out the first quarter.

Please remember that the first quarter ends this week on October 22, 2021. If you have not already done so, please use parent portal to ensure that your child has all assignments submitted and is on track to successfully wrap up the quarter.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Wow. It’s hard to believe that we are already at the close of first quarter. We are so very proud of our students and staff for how well they have returned back to OurHouSe and we look forward to being able to meet with each of you to discuss your student’s 1st quarter progress.

Parent/Teacher Fall Conferences will be Tuesday, October 26 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm and Friday October 29 from 11:40am – 3pm.

This year we will be using Sign-Up Genius for families to book your conferences with teachers.

Please read the directions below on how to sign up for the Oakville High School’s Parent Teacher Fall Conferences prior to clicking on the Sign-Up Genius link at the end of this section:

PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE ON THE CORRECT DATE FOR YOUR CONFERENCE.

This year you have the choice of choosing either In- person conference or virtual conference. You will find each department has its own Tab found at the top of the page. Click on the desired department tab and scroll down to find your child’s teacher and a desired time for your conference. (As you sign up, make sure you leave yourself adequate time to go from one meeting to the next. We need all conferences to remain within the scheduled 10 minute time period, so all parents have the opportunity to stay on schedule. If you feel additional time is needed for a conference, arrange additional time during your conference or call/email the teacher to set a time.) If you choose the virtual option, a virtual meeting link will be emailed to you by the teacher at least 24 hours prior to your conference time. There are three very important required questions to be answered when making your appointment. 1) Please provide your student’s name; 2) if you will be having an in person conference or a virtual conference, 3) include your name and an accurate email address.

If you have any questions, please call Mrs. McCollum 314-467-7014 or contact your student’s teacher directly if these dates do not work with your schedule.

Lunch Room Seating update beginning October 25th

While our COVID transmission data has been significantly down since we started in August, we are still diligently following our COVID Universal Precautions and mitigation practices. As a part of this, we continue to follow the district’s protocol for contact tracing. As we move further into the school year, we realize that seating charts during the lunch cycle are imperative to the contact tracing process.

As a result, beginning October 25, 2021, students be required to have (self-selected) assigned seating during lunch. Each lunch table will have a max total of eight (8) available seats. So, students will be allowed to select a seat with potentially up to 7 friends.

During the lunch periods on October 21st and 22nd, students will be asked to be seated their selected seat. This will then become their assigned lunch seat for the rest of the semester.

OHS After School Tutoring and After School Programs

As we know through research, involvement in extra and co-curricular opportunities increase student’s sense of belonging and greatly contributes to both academic and life success. We also value them having a good sense of belonging as members of our school community.

We are excited about the opportunity to expand our After-school offerings. Our goal is to provide our students tons of meaningful and enjoyable ways to know that they are a valuable member of our school community.

Starting now, we have added these after-school programs and after-school tutoring opportunities. Please email the sponsor indicated to join.

Have a great evening and we look forward to seeing you soon,

Principal Sunkett
