Oakville Native Earns Enlisted Person of the Year
Petty Officer 1st Class Josip Pehar earned the recognition from the U.S. Coast Guard.

The U.S. Coast Guard recognized Petty Officer 1st Class Josip Pehar out of more than 4,000 soldiers as the Enlisted Person of the Year this month at a ceremony in New Orleans.
The 2001 graduate of has been in the Coast Guard since 2003.
Pehar serves in the Eighth District of the Coast Guard, which covers Missouri and 25 other states. He received the Commendation Medal for his ability to lead security forces and search and rescue operations in St. Louis.

“I’m deeply humbled and honored to have received this award,” Pehar said in a release from the Coast Guard. “I am proud to serve as member of the U.S. military and as a member of Sector Upper Mississippi River. I could not have done this without the assistance of my family, my loving wife and children, and my fellow Coast Guardsmen.”
Pehar and his wife, Kathleen, were married at in Oakville in 2005.
