Pepper: Pawsitively Perfect

Pepper is a 2-year-old pocket Pit, and a darn cute one at that!

The whole “do as I say, not as I do” thing doesn’t fly with me. Therefore, if I suggest that people do something, then expect that I am doing the same.  With that being said, I had no real intention of fostering. After all, I’m a busy gal with two pooches of my own. I can be full of excuses when I want to be. Nonetheless, last Tuesday I was reminded that I need to lead by example - so meet my new foster pup, Pepper!

At first glance I thought Pepper was a puppy - she is only 35 pounds and full of energy. Once I got the sheet with all of her information, however, I realized that she is 2 years old - she’s a pocket Pit, and a darn cute one at that!

Within an hour of picking up Pepper from Stray Rescue and taking her to , I knew I was meant to foster her.  I called Stray Rescue from work, and started the foster paperwork.  This may sound silly to some, but I believe Pepper was sent to me by my Grandma.

My 93-year-old Grandma had passed away one week to the day of meeting Pepper.  The pain of her death was still very raw.  Pepper was immediately very affectionate toward me, and so happy.  She has helped me as I continue to grieve my Grandma by laying in my lap (she is a great snuggler), and giving me wet, sloppy kisses, and I have helped her by sharing my house with her and helping her find her forever family.

Pepper is a great dog, but with two dogs of my own, my plate is full. Therefore, I am determined to find Pepper the absolute best home; she deserves it!  I have had Pepper for one week now, and during that time she has had no accidents in the house, has gotten along great with my two dogs, my 5-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Roma, and my 5-year-old Poodle mix, as well as all the dogs at TWB, listens well, and learned how to use the doggy door on first day at my house. (Did I mention she is smart?!)

Check out Stray Rescue for more information on this awesome pooch.  If you are in the same boat as me and adoption is not an option, but think you are just too busy to foster, reconsider.  Fostering is such a rewarding experience.  You are not only helping the dog you are fostering, but you are also helping the dog who is now saved from living on the streets.  Browse the Companion Animals for Adoption on the Stray Rescue website, or call Stray Rescue, and they will help set you up with the perfect foster!
