Koenig: My love of children drew me to teaching as well as having the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of life-long learners.
Patch: What do you teach and what is your favorite subject to teach?
Koenig: I teach first grade at Point Elementary and my favorite subject to teach is reading. First grade is an amazing growth year as students learn how to read. Teaching reading is so rewarding because it is a life-long skill every student needs in the real world.
Patch: What's the goofiest thing that's happened to you in a classroom (either as a teacher or student)?
Koenig: One of the best things about teaching is that every day is a brand new day. With first graders that want to tell you everything, we are always engaged in goofy and fun conversations on a daily basis. I look forward to reading their daily writings because of the humor and honesty they display.
Patch: What is your favorite thing to do outside of teaching?
Koenig: My favorite this to do outside of teaching is to spend time with my family. I have three children Jake, 9; Karly, 3; and Mason, 11 months. We love to play outside and garden. Every summer, my husband, children and immediate family look forward to vacationing together.
