Skywalker: A Stray Rescue Success Story

This lucky pooch found a great home.

Skywalker, a 1-year-old Terrier Mix, has had one busy week. He got to spend the day at The Watering Bowl, went to a foster home, and then a day later, met his forever family and got adopted. What a lucky pooch!

But luck wasn’t always on Skywalker’s side. His previous owner left him behind to die. The police found him locked in a closet in an abandoned house. After he was found, he knew that he had been given a second lease on life.

Skywalker is both a people dog and a dog kind of dog. He walks right up to everyone he meets happily wagging his tell, absolutely loves a good petting, and can’t resist a belly rub. He also got along great with all the dogs at TWB. His favorite activity was rastlin’ with all his new friends.

When a staff member went down to Stray Rescue to pick up this week’s pooch, it was love at first sight. Stray Rescue had made an announcement that fosters are needed because so many dogs are out in the heat and need to be rescued. She decided to be his foster mommy.

The very next day, a TWB client saw Skywalker’s picture on TWB’s facebook page and inquired about him. They brought their dog up to TWB to meet Skywalker, and the two of them played their hearts out. It was as if they were meant to be siblings. It was obvious that Skywalker had found his forever home.

Next week, Skywalker (renamed Chance by his forever parents), will go to his new home. Happy endings like this don’t always happen, and especially don’t happen this quickly. For that reason, it is important to celebrate stories like Skywalker’s.

To create a happy ending for another pooch, check out Stray Rescue. There are plenty of dogs looking for a temporary or forever home. If fostering or adopting is not an option, consider donating either time and/or money to this organization that does so much for the dogs of St. Louis.
