"St. Louis Country" Kicks Up Its Heels at Twisted Bull Saloon

92.3 WIL celebrated the first night of taping for its weekly dance and video show, "St. Louis Country," at its new venue, the Twisted Bull Saloon.

If you’ve scoured the channels late on Saturday nights any time in the past 19 years, you probably have stumbled across "St. Louis Country" – 92.3 WIL’s weekly show comprised of local dancing and music videos, which airs on KMOV-TV. The locally taped show, which was previously housed at Wild Country in Collinsville, moved to a new venue this past Wednesday- the Twisted Bull Saloon in Mehlville.

“Mike Ousley (the producer) approached me several months back because they liked the remodel,” said Twisted Bull Saloon co-owner, Randy Green, of Mehlville. “The show is called St. Louis Country, and they thought it would be nice to actually have it in St. Louis."

“We looked at the growth of St. Louis, and it’s moving south,” said Mike Ousley’s son and head of the show, Jonathan Ousley. “We thought Twisted Bull would be a great fit, and we’re very happy.”

Dancers who have attended past tapings had mixed feelings about the new venue.

“I love it here. They did an awesome job when they remodeled,” said Debbie Meilink, of Oakville.

“I don’t like the sawdust on the floor, and it’s very small compared to Wild Country,” said Steve Throm, of Florissant.

“I’m still undecided,” said Patrick Shawhan, of South County. “It’s fun though.”

St. Louis Country produces a new show every Wednesday night, with taping from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. The Twisted Bull Saloon has signed a contract to host the show for one year, with the option of renewal.

“I like the show; I’m pleased to have it here. It’s kind of a dream-come-true kind of thing,” Green said.
