Veterans Deliver Important Message to Point Elementary Students

Students at the school hosted the veterans April 18.

When third-graders invited veterans into their school April 18, they received an important message.

"Work hard and never give up," was the theme of the day as members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital spoke to the students.

The veterans discussed their injuries and explained how they trained for wheelchair competitions in swimming and bowling.

The third-graders also met recreational therapists from the hospital, who displayed how the veterans do daily tasks, such as driving.

This visit marks the 15th year of the partnership between Point students and the Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
